【摘要】:Thesetestmethodscoverproceduresfordeterminingthemeangrainsize,andthedistributionofgraininterceptlengthsorgrainareas,forpolycrystallinemetalsandnonmetallicmaterialswithequiaxedordeformedgrainshapes,withuniformorduplexgrainsizedistributions,andforsinglephaseormultiphasegrainstructures.Themeasurementsareperformedusingsemiautomaticdigitizingtabletimageanalyzersorautomaticimageanalyzers.Thesedevicesrelievemuchofthetediumassociatedwithmanualmeasurements,thuspermittingcollectionofalargeramountofdataandmoreextensivesamplingwhichwillproducebetterstatisticaldefinitionofthegrainsizethanbymanualmethods.Theprecisionandrelativeaccuracyofthetestresultsdependontherepresentativenessofthespecimenorspecimens,qualityofspecimenpreparation,clarityofthegrainboundaries(etchtechniqueandetchantused),thenumberofgrainsmeasuredorthemeasurementarea,errorsindetectinggrainboundariesorgraininteriors,errorsduetodetectingotherfeatures(carbides,inclusions,twinboundaries,andsoforth),therepresentativenessofthefieldsmeasured,andprogrammingerrors.Resultsfromthesetestmethodsmaybeusedtoqualifymaterialforshipmentinaccordancewithguidelinesagreeduponbetweenpurchaserandmanufacturer,tocomparedifferentmanufacturingprocessesorprocessvariations,ortoprovidedataforstructure-property-behaviorstudies.1.1Thesetestmethodsareusedtodeterminegrainsizefrommeasurementsofgraininterceptlengths,interceptcounts,intersectioncounts,grainboundarylength,andgrainareas.1.2Thesemeasurementsaremadewithasemiautomaticdigitizingtabletorbyautomaticimageanalysisusinganimageofthegrainstructureproducedbyamicroscope.1.3Thesetestmethodsareapplicabletoanytypeofgrainstructureorgrainsizedistributionaslongasthegrainboundariescanbeclearlydelineatedbyetchingandsubsequentimageprocessing,ifnecessary.1.4Thesetestmethodsareapplicabletomeasurementofothergrain-likemicrostructures,suchascellstructures.1.5Thisstandarddealsonlywiththerecommendedtestmethodsandnothinginitshouldbeconstruedasdefiningorestablishinglimitsofacceptabilityorfitnessforpurposeofthematerialstested.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.1.6Thesectionsappearinthefollowingorder:
