【摘要】:Interpretationanduseofdatageneratedbyparticlecharacterizationmethodsishighlydependentonthedefinitionsoftermsdescribingthatdata.Itisextremelyimportantthatthosetermsbedefinedinpreciselythesamewaybothwhencomparingdatafromdifferentcharacterizationtechniquesandevenwhencorrelatingdatafromthesametechnique.Itislikewiseimportantthatusersofparticlecharacterizationmethodsandthedatageneratedtherefromunderstandtheprinciplesofthemethods,sothatdifferencesandsimilaritiesinthedatacanbeinterpretedinrelationtothoseprinciples.Thatunderstandingcanhelptoavoiddisagreementswhendatafromdifferentcharacterizationmethodsarecompared.Thedefinitionscontainedinthisterminologywillaidintheinterpretationofparticlecharacterizationdatawithrespecttothemethod(s)usedtoproducethatdata.1.1Thisterminologycoversthedefinitionsoftermsusedinthedescriptionandproceduresofanalysisofparticulatematerialsnotordinarilyanalyzedusingtestsieves.Thetermsrelatedirectlytotheequipmentusedinanalysis,thephysicalformsofthematerialstobeanalyzed,andselecteddescriptivedatareductionandanalysisformats.1.2CommitteeE29onParticleandSprayCharacterizationbelievesthatitisessentialtoincludetermsanddefinitionsexplicittothecommitteex2019;sscope,regardlessofwhetherthetermsappearinexistingASTMstandards.Termsthatareincommonusageandappearincommon-languagedictionariesaregenerallynotincluded,unlesstheyhavespecificmeaningsinthecontextofparticlecharacterizationdifferentfromthecommon-languagedefinitions.
