【摘要】:Textile,paperandpolymeric(includingvinylandexpandedvinyl)wallorceilingcoveringsandwallorceilingcoveringsystemsusedasinteriorfinishareoftenevaluatedwithTestMethodE84tocomplywithbuildingorlifesafetycoderequirements.Thispracticedescribesspecimenpreparationandmountingproceduresforsuchmaterialsandsystems.Thispracticeisnotapplicabletothefollowingmaterials:Wallorceilingcoveringswithexposedwoodsurfaces,andAnywallorceilingcoveringsystemwherethetoplayerisnotatextilematerial,apaper-basedmaterial,apolymericmaterialoravinylmaterial.1.1Thispracticedescribesproceduresforspecimenpreparationandmountingwhentestingtextile,paperorpolymeric(includingvinylandexpandedvinyl)wallorceilingcoveringmaterialstoassessflamespreadandsmokedevelopmentassurfaceburningcharacteristicsusingTestMethodE84.1.2TestingisconductedwithTestMethodE84.1.3Thispracticedoesnotprovidepass/failcriteriathatcanbeusedasaregulatorytool.1.4Usethevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsasthestandard,inrefereedecisions.ThevaluesintheSIsystemofunitsaregiveninparentheses,forinformationonly;seeforfurtherdetails.1.5Thisfirestandardcannotbeusedtoprovidequantitativemeasures.1.6Firetestingofproductsandmaterialsisinherentlyhazardous,andadequatesafeguardsforpersonnelandpropertyshallbeemployedinconductingthesetests.Firetestinginvolveshazardousmaterials,operations,andequipment.Thisstandardgivesinstructionsonspecimenpreparationandmounting,butthefire-test-responsemethodisgiveninTestMethodE84.SeealsoSection10.1.7Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.1.8Thetextofthisstandardreferencesnotesandfootnoteswhichprovideexplanatorymaterial.Thesenotesandfootnotesshallnotbeconsideredrequirementsofthestandard.
